Walk with a Doc Program
North Hawaii Community Hospital and The Queen’s Health Systems Native Hawaiian Health Program invite community members to start the year off right with a one-hour walk on Saturday, Jan. 6.
Dr. Natalie Kehau Kong, a primary care physician at North Hawaii Health & Wellness, will start the walk with a brief talk on a current health issue facing Native Hawaiians and many others in our community.
The walking program is part of the worldwide Walk With a Doc program to encourage physical activity among people of all ages.
The walks will be held every Saturday from 8-9 a.m. Walkers will meet at at Pukalani Stables.
No sign-up is required.

Hawaii-Hilo baseball clinic
The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation will host its annual Waiakea ‘Uka Vulcan Baseball Clinic on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 9-11:30 a.m. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. The clinic is open to children ages 7-13.

Family Support Hawaii tennis tourney
Family Support Hawaii will hold its fourth annual Serve It Forward tennis tournament at the Holua Tennis Center on Jan. 13-14.
Funds generated have provided school supplies through the Early Head Start Preschool program, enabled the Early Intervention Services to purchase a “mobile Stander that allows young children who are delayed in walking or standing to experience the joy of moving independently in a standing position, and aided support groups for fathers through the Fatherhood Initiative.
